This tapestry depicts a Monarch butterfly with one of its favorite flowers to sip nectar from, the
Lantana. The butterfly is overlaid with Metatron's cube, one of the most basic and sacred of natural
geometrical forms. The butterfly's antennae are Phi spirals (a common geometrical spiral in nature),
and rising out of these are Mother Gaia (Earth) and a spiral galaxy.
The original tapestry was made using the ancient Indonesian dyeing technique called "Batik."
Layers of wax are carefully applied in lines and designs, then the fabric is dyed.
The wax resists the dye so it leaves white lines where it is applied.
This process may be repeated several times to add layers of color.
Then the wax is melted and washed out, leaving lines of white or color where the wax had been.
